There are many different treatments for hemorrhoids. Hemorrhoids are also called piles too! It is estimated that approximately 40% of the adult population suffers from having hemorrhoids. You may be wondering if hemorrhoids may be the problem you are having. If you feel a lump or kind of like bumps on the outside of your anus then you might have external hemorrhoids. If sometimes you have blood on the tissue paper coming from the anus then you might possibly have internal hemorrhoids.
There are many different reasons you may have hemorrhoids. Some of the most common causes of hemorrhoids can include for instance not having and adequate amount of fiber in your system. Try to either eat enough fiber or maybe buy some of the over-the-counter pills that are available. When having a bowel movement really contracting when you are constipated has also been a cause of hemorrhoids. It has even been known that really prolonged sitting on the toilet can cause a hemorrhoid problem and actually even prolonged sitting anywhere is believed to help cause hemorrhoids. During pregnancy some women may get hemorrhoids during this time.
Internal hemorrhoids are not as uncomfortable as external. When they are internal one symptom that you may have is some discomfort when having a bowel movement and there will be some blood on the tissue when cleaning yourself. You may or may not feel an internal burning sensation. This type of hemorrhoid will also come out sometimes, but then when it is not inflated it will recede back into the anal canal. There are different degrees of hemorrhoids.
External hemorrhoids you can feel on the outside of the rectum. These are very uncomfortable and usually occur after having a bowel movement that more or less rub them and cause them to be irritated and swollen. They will bleed and are very tender to the touch. Some of these you can not push back into the rectum at all. They get to a state of thrombosis. They hurt like crazy when you clean yourself and at this time a very nice cool compress will feel really good.
One treatment that is commonly used for external hemorrhoids is ointments and creams. These can be purchased over-the-counter. These are all just topical treatments and they are generally rubbed on the outer rectal area and this will in turn take some of the inflammation out of the painful hemorrhoids. The hemorrhoids will then relax and not bulge so much. Some of these creams and ointments do cause a stain on your undergarment so it is best to wear a pad of some kind to protect your clothing. This is a temporary fix for the hemorrhoids. It is not permanent.
Another common treatment for hemorrhoids is pills that are taken to that regulate your blood pressure. The hemorrhoids are less tolerable to problems because these pills are supposed to tighten the vein tissue. When checking into pills these can be ordered online or also some are sold at health food stores and some over-the-counter too!
One of the other products that are used is suppositories. These are inserted into the rectum and they deliver moisture to the hemorrhoids. This is supposed to help when you are having rectal pressure or in other words a bowel movement. If the area is moist then you are more likely going to have an easier time going to the restroom.
